Du hast kein Herz

Du hast kein Herz

Reflections of language and speech are one focus of this work: the mimicry, the breaks: the spaces between the sentences competing with the sentences and the fragments of sentences. Two heads, of a woman and a man, are communicating, the theme of their relationship is seen in fragments. Speech is a plastic material; it is not the sentence itself that conveys the information but the material of the sentence, which continously becomes loaded by the ever changing context. Single sentences change their meanings as a chameleon does its colour - they escape the risk of being worn out by changing their positions. The information hides itself between the sentences and the images within the unsaid. "You have no heart" is the second part of a triology.

Werkleitz presents Du hast kein Herz in memory of Rotraut Pape, who passed away on April 14, 2019.

Rotraut was one of the most virulent actors in international media art, who put all her heart and soul into her extensive activities as an artist, filmmaker, and university professor.

We mourn the loss of one of the pioneers of media art, but above all of a long-standing friend.
